Upgrading to 9 from 7.5 Issues

Vote:

Hi,

Does anyone know of a step by step guide to upgrading Episerver 7.5 and Commerce to the latest version of 9?

We are 2 days in and having all sorts of issues - missing DLLs, obsolete methods.

Is there a list of required DLLs for version 9 and where in NuGet we can get them from?

Thanks

Jon

Hello Jon

Its probably worth reading through the upgrade documentation for CMS and Commerce if you haven't already:

http://world.episerver.com/documentation/Items/Upgrading/EPiServer-CMS/9/Breaking-changes/

http://world.episerver.com/documentation/Items/Upgrading/EPiserver-Commerce/9/upgrade-and-migrate-to-commerce-9/

These document the breaking changes and have some useful information about upgrading.

Hi again,

We are in the process of upgrading our existing EpiServer CMS 7 to 9 as well. Is there a definitive guide on how to do this. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

@Roberto: check the upgrading section for CMS here http://world.episerver.com/documentation/upgrading/Episerver-CMS

Here you can see all changes introduced between the different major versions, hope this helps.

To avoid such problems, I would suggest you do to upgrade your solution to 8.0 first (install Commerce 8.0 should be enough to do that), fix any breaking changes that happen, back up the site and the databases before upgrading to Commerce 9.24.1. That should allow you to fix problems in small steps and allow you to redo a step if anything goes wrong.
