Restrict files/folders in File Manager based on User Group

Vote:

I've got several different groups and they all have their own folder in the admin, but I need to lock them down to their own specific folder when they go to file manager and not be able to browse anyone elses files/folders.

Many thanks,

Jon

why not right click on the folder and set access rights, or are you more looking for when a want to select a top image, that you only get access to top images folder?

The problem is that the files still need to be visible on the front end. We want to hide them from the admin of that area not for security purposes but to save them looking through hundreds of folders for their own.

As I understand it, if I took the 'read' permissions off a folder for 'everyone' that would prevent an unauthenticated user from browsing to it?

thanks,

You could try to give read access to the "Anonymous" virtual role, which a logged in admin should not have, and hence should not see the file. However there will still be the problem with browsing the site for the logged in admin user.
