Connect domain name to a site

Hi!

This might seem to you like a newbie question, but I have to ask. If you buy a domain, how do you connect it to you site? Is it the domain provider that does it? Or is it done by me in the IIS > Properties for a site > IP > Advanced > add?

Thank you

Hi

When you buy a domain you point it to an IP-address (your servers IP-address). This is done for you by your ISP or your ISP might have an admin tool you can use. Next step is for you to set up your sites bindings in IIS... check this for an example http://www.iis.net/ConfigReference/system.applicationHost/sites/site/bindings/binding

Thanks. But, in my IIS there is no option for binding as described on the page? I cant find the file ApplicationHost.config and no file (did a search) contains the tag <binding>.

In the IIS under Properties for a site > IP > Advanced > add there are domains listed (two of them, but we have three working).

Can someone please explain. Thanks

What version of IIS are you running? I think you'll be able to find what you're looking for fairly easy if you search the web...
