Using a backup LDAP connection as Active Directory log in?

Greeting people!

I have been asked to find out if an Epi site can use a backup LDAP connection in case something happens to the one of the servers.
My client basically has got two different servers containing the same Active Directory. And sometimes (according to the client) one of the servers are down.
So the client wants me to implement a backup LDAP connection.

In the present situation the site is using multiplexing, SQL and the AD.
I have added the Active Directory Membership, and everything works fine.
(Based on http://world.episerver.com/documentation/Items/Tech-Notes/EPiServer-CMS-6/EPiServer-CMS-60/Configuration---Active-Directory-Membership-Provider/)

My questions now are:

1. Is it even possible to have multiple Ldap connections in case one of the servers are down?
2a. If yes, how would you approach this subject?
2b. If no, any other suggestions on fixing this issue?

Regards,

Chris

First try using 2 ActiveDirectoryMembership providers with your backup as second and see if that solves it. If not, I would inherit from the ActiveDirectoryMembership provider and modify it with your backup call
