Storing statistics from EPiserver site

Hi,

I have a solution where I need to log visitors to show "most viewed articles".
To do this I'm using:

http://world.episerver.com/Blogs/Anders-Hattestad/Dates/2011/1/Using-Statistics-to-show-view-count/

To do this, I have to enable logging on the site which is done, however the data is not stored.
I copied the settings from "filelogappender", and changed the file to "statistics.txt".

The warning on the statistic page disappeared, but I can't find the log file.

What I really want to do is to store the log in the database. The only information
I found on this was:

http://world.episerver.com/Documentation/Items/Tech-Notes/EPiServer-CMS-4/EPiServer-462/Log-Service-Installation-Instructions/

but I'm not sure if this is valid any more. F.ex. I can't find %programFiles%/EPiServer.LogService/EPiServer.LogService.exe.config.

So is this still valid??

In advance thanks for all replies!

Kind regards,

Jon Haakon

I have used the log service / log generator to create such a feature once. It worked, except that the statistics were cleared now and then (when the application pool was recycled?). That might be because I did something wrong, but I would still suggest you look at other approaches for acheiving this, because the log service / statistics (at least in the current form) will be obsoleted, see http://labs.episerver.com/en/Blogs/Fredrik-Tjarnberg/Dates/2009/4/Statistics-log-about-to-be-obsoleted/
